Nitro Slow Stick Conversion

This is a nitro-conversion for use with a GWS Slow Stick or other stick mount capable radio controlled models. This mount was designed for the AP Hornet 0.15 two stroke glow engine but should work with other engines that use the same mount pattern. Print in ABS only. I recommend applying a couple coats of acetone to strengthen this part for longevity. Be sure to tape up at least the leading edges of the wing and tail, nitro can soak in to foam and weaken it. Slow stick foam is covered apart from the edges. A nitro-powered Slow Stick is much better than you might think, give it a shot!

Recommended Print Settings*:

  • Layer Height: .2mm
  • Infill: 70%
  • Top/Bottom Layers: 10
  • Outline/Perimeters: 6
  • Brim: 10 Outlines, 2 Layers (to help prevent warping)
  • Support: Yes
  • Print Speed: Slow (to help prevent warping)
  • Post-Print Treatment: Acetone Strengthening Strongly Recommended**

*Recommended settings are based on Simplify3D and the Flashforge Creator Pro and are simply what worked best for me. Optimal settings will vary between printers.

**Liberally apply acetone to the finished print with a paintbrush and let it dry fully. This further strengthens layer bonding and increases longevity of the part significantly.
